Local Action
 

The IGI branch in a country is referred to as the Focal Integrity Team (FIT) comprising all the IGI Members within the country, who identify local priorities and lay strategies for intervention in partnership with the FIT Secretariat.

The Public Education program entails civic campaigns for

  • community sensitization,
  • awareness creation,
  • advocacy training
  • capacity building...

 

IGI trains civil servants and administrators in various public sectors and for functions such as procurement and accountancy, promoting best practice, and tools to counteract fraud.

FITCAM are helping with the monitoring of road and construction contracts under the Government of Cameroon public investment budget. In one particular village, corrupt practices were exposed, and this could save the villagers from losing up to 59 million francs CFA in the maintenance of earth roads and opening of new tracks.  Read the investigation report now - click here

New Report into Corruption in Kenyan Education Sector

 

A recent report produced by IGI Kenya highlights lack of transparency, inconsistent accounting and disappearance of funds in the Kenyan education sector. An IGI-led Community Taxpayers' Assembly has now reached a ground-breaking agreement with local authorities to carry out audit and review activities in local schools on behalf of the public.

 

 

Cleaning up the Universities in Congo (DRC)

 

 

 

 So starts the latest report on major new public consultations on corruption and intimidation in the universities of Bukavu, DRC.  The consulations combined radio and TV broadcasts with wide ranging workshops, and have already led to sackings.
